Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4th December 2025

Daniela Pescuma International (“we”, “us” or “our”) operates several websites and online services, including Daniela Pescuma, The Writing Shed Club (community on Skool), Blossom through Writing, Loveandpizza.it, A Casa na Praia (a Portuguese-language site), and our BlossomWritingAndCo Etsy shop (collectively, the “Services”). This privacy notice explains how we collect and process personal data through your use of our Services. By using our sites and providing us with your data, you confirm that you are over 13 years of age.

Data Controller: Daniela Pescuma International is the data controller responsible for your personal data (as a sole trader business registered in the UK). If you have any questions or concerns about your personal data, you can contact us at info@danielapescuma.com. Mailing address available upon request, United Kingdom.

Personal Information We Collect

When you visit our Sites, we automatically collect certain information about your device and browsing actions. This includes data such as your web browser type, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies installed on your device. As you navigate through the Sites, we may also collect information about the individual pages or products you view, what websites or search queries referred you to the Sites, and how you interact with the pages.

We collect information using the following technologies:

  • Cookies: Data files placed on your device or computer, often including a unique identifier. Cookies help us recognize you and remember your preferences. (For more details about cookies and how to disable them, you can visit allaboutcookies.org.)
  • Log files: Files that record actions occurring on the site and collect data such as your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
  • Web beacons, tags, and pixels: Electronic files that record information about how you browse the site (for example, tracking whether you’ve opened an email or clicked on a link).

Additionally, when you make or attempt to make a purchase through our Sites, we collect certain information from you. This “Order Information” may include your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, and payment details (such as credit card numbers). Please note: we use Stripe as our secure third-party payment processor to handle payment transactions. This means your payment card information is collected and processed by Stripe on our behalf; we do not store your full credit card number or payment details on our own servers for security reasons.

We also collect communication data that you provide when you contact us. If you send us a message through a contact form on the site, email us, send a text or social media message, or otherwise reach out, we will collect the information in that communication (such as your name, email address, and the content of your message). We process this data in order to respond to you and keep records of our correspondence, as well as to establish or defend any legal claims if necessary. Our lawful basis for processing this communication data is our legitimate interest in effectively communicating with our users and maintaining proper records.

Sensitive Personal Data

We do not intentionally collect any sensitive personal data about you. “Sensitive data” refers to special categories of personal information, such as details about your race or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, political opinions, health information, genetic or biometric data, or information about your sex life or sexual orientation. Please do not provide this type of information to us. If you do, we will treat it with extra care and security, but we generally do not seek or process any sensitive categories of data.

How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information we collect from you for a variety of legitimate purposes, all in accordance with UK data protection law. Primarily, we use Order Information to fulfill any orders or requests placed through the Services. This includes processing your payments (via Stripe), arranging for shipping or digital delivery of products, and providing you with order confirmations, invoices, or customer support. If you provide personal information in the context of a purchase or contract for services, we will use it to perform our contract with you (for example, to deliver the goods or services you paid for).

We also use the information we collect to communicate with you and to manage our relationship. For instance, we may use your email address to send you updates about your order, respond to inquiries you send us, or provide information you’ve requested. Communication data (like emails or messages from you) is used solely for the purpose of corresponding with you and record-keeping, based on our legitimate interests in providing good customer service.

In addition, we may use the Device and usage information collected (via cookies, logs, and similar technologies) to improve and optimize our Sites. This helps us understand how our customers use the Sites, which pages or products are most popular, and how effective our marketing efforts are. For example, we use this data to analyze site traffic and user behaviors in the aggregate, so we can enhance user experience and troubleshoot technical issues. It also aids us in screening for potential risk or fraud (particularly by using IP address data to identify malicious activity). Using this data for analytics and improvement is in our legitimate interests as it helps us maintain and grow our business.

We may use personal information to deliver relevant content and advertisements to you and to gauge the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. For example, if we run promotions or ads, we might use your prior browsing behavior or purchase history to show you products or services that are more likely to interest you. Similarly, if you have subscribed to our newsletter or marketing communications, we will use your personal data (like your name and email) to send you updates and promotional materials. Our lawful bases for these marketing-related uses are either your consent (when you have explicitly subscribed or opted in) or our legitimate interests in growing our business by keeping customers informed of our offerings.

We will only use your personal data for the purposes for which we collected it, or for other closely related purposes. If we need to use your data for an unrelated new purpose, we will seek your consent or inform you of the legal basis that allows us to do so. We do not engage in automated decision-making or profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects on you, unless we have informed you and obtained your consent when required by law.

Third-Party Services and Data Sharing

We value your privacy and take care to share your personal data only when necessary. In certain cases, we rely on trusted third-party service providers to help us operate our business or provide our Services to you. These third parties will only receive the information needed to perform their specific services, and we require them to handle your data securely and lawfully. Key examples of third-party services we use include:

  • Payment Processing: When you make a purchase, your payment details are handled by our payment processor, Stripe, which processes your transaction securely on our behalf. (Stripe is certified to PCI-DSS, a stringent credit card security standard.) We do not personally receive or store your sensitive payment card data beyond what is needed to verify the payment.
  • E-commerce Platform: Our BlossomWritingAndCo shop is hosted on Etsy. If you make a purchase through our Etsy shop, your personal information will be collected and processed by Etsy as well, in accordance with Etsy’s own privacy policies. We receive certain details about your order from Etsy (such as your name, contact information, and what you ordered) so that we can fulfill your order, but sensitive payment information remains handled by Etsy’s systems.
  • Analytics: We use analytics tools like Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use our websites. These tools use cookies and similar technologies to collect aggregated data about user behavior (for example, which pages are visited and how long users stay). This information helps us improve website functionality and content. Google may process data about your use of our site (such as IP address and browsing info) for these analytics on our behalf, but it does not identify you personally to us. Google Analytics may set its own cookies; you can read Google’s Privacy Policy for more details. You can also opt-out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Email Marketing: If you subscribe to our newsletter or marketing emails, your name and email address may be stored with our email service provider (for example, Mailerlite, Mailchimp, ConvertKit, or a similar platform). That third-party service helps us design and send email updates. They are only allowed to use your information to send out our communications to you and for no other purposes. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in any marketing email or by contacting us.
  • Community Platform: We use Skool to host our writing community, The Writing Shed Club. If you choose to join us there, Skool may collect personal data such as your name, email address, and engagement details. Your information is handled in accordance with Skool’s Privacy Policy and used solely to manage your membership and interactions within the community.

Aside from service providers, we may also share information in a few other circumstances: (1) Legal Obligations: If we are legally required to disclose your data (for example, to comply with a court order, subpoena, or other legal process), we will do so. We may also share information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request. (2) Business Transfers:In the unlikely event that we undergo a reorganization, or our business or assets are transferred (for example, through a merger, acquisition, or sale), personal data we hold may be transferred to the new owner so that you can continue to receive the Services.

Importantly, we do not sell your personal information to third-party companies for their own marketing purposes. We only allow access to personal data to those employees, agents, and partners who have a business need to know such data, and all such parties are subject to confidentiality obligations.

Please note that any third-party service providers we use have their own privacy policies that govern their use of your personal data. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of providers like Stripe, Etsy, Google, etc., to understand how they handle your information. While we take care to work with reputable providers, we are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or services that are outside our control.

Marketing Communications

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we may send you promotional or marketing communications in certain circumstances. Specifically, if you have made a purchase from us or inquired about our products/services, we may send you marketing emails about similar products or services unless you have opted out of such emails. This is sometimes called a “soft opt-in” for customers with whom we have an existing relationship. Additionally, if you have specifically given us your consent (for example, by signing up to our newsletter), we will send you the communications you agreed to receive.

If you represent a corporate entity (for example, if you provided a company email address or you are receiving emails in a business capacity), we may in some cases send you marketing communications without prior consent, as allowed under PECR for corporate subscribers. However, in all cases, you have the right to opt out of marketing messages if you do not wish to receive them.

Your Choices: You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time. If you no longer wish to receive promotional communications from us, simply click the “unsubscribe” or “opt-out” link in the footer of any marketing email we send. Alternatively, you may contact us at any time and request to be removed from our mailing list. Once you opt out, we will stop sending you marketing emails. Please note that opting out of marketing communications does not opt you out of all communication – we may still need to send you emails regarding transactions or services you have requested (for example, order confirmations, shipping notifications, password resets, or other non-marketing, service-related communications).

Data Security

We take your security seriously. We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data from being accidentally lost, stolen, misused, or accessed without authorization. For example, our website uses encryption (HTTPS) to securely transmit information, and we store data on secure servers or reputable cloud services with robust security practices. We also limit access to your personal data strictly to those employees, contractors, and service providers who need to know it to perform their duties. All such persons or entities are subject to confidentiality obligations. Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure; therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security. However, we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information and continuously update our security protocols to address new threats.

In the event we suspect or detect a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

Data Retention

We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including for the purpose of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. For instance, if you make a purchase, we will retain your Order Information for our records and to comply with tax and revenue laws (generally, financial records are kept for at least 6 years under UK law). We regularly review the data we hold and securely delete or anonymize personal data that is no longer needed for any legitimate business or legal purpose.

If you ask us to delete your data, we will do so as long as we are not required to keep it for legal reasons. Even if we delete or anonymize your personal data, it may persist in backup archives for a short period of time until those archives are cycled out.

Your Rights

Under applicable data protection laws (including the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018), you have a number of important rights regarding your personal data. These rights include the following:

  • Right of Access: You have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you and to receive a copy of that data. This helps you to understand what information we have and to verify that we are processing it lawfully.
  • Right to Rectification: If any of your personal information is incorrect or incomplete, you have the right to request that we correct or update it.
  • Right to Erasure: You have the right to request that we delete your personal data in certain circumstances. This is sometimes known as the “right to be forgotten.” We will honor such requests as fully as possible, provided that we do not have a legal obligation or compelling reason to retain the data.
  • Right to Restrict Processing: You have the right to ask us to suspend or limit the processing of your personal data, for example if you want us to establish its accuracy or the reason for processing it.
  • Right to Object: You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data where we are relying on legitimate interests as the legal basis (including any profiling based on those interests). You also have the right to object if we were to process your data for direct marketing purposes (we will always honor such opt-out requests).
  • Right to Data Portability: You have the right to request that we transfer your personal data to you or to another service provider in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format. This right applies to data you provided to us and that we process by automated means based on your consent or a contract.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: If we are processing your personal data based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. For example, you can withdraw your consent to receive marketing emails by unsubscribing. Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing we conducted prior to your withdrawal, and it will not affect processing of your personal data under other lawful bases.
  • Right to Complain: If you have concerns or believe that we have not complied with your data protection rights, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). You can contact the ICO directly to report any issues: via telephone (0303 123 1113) or through their website at ico.org.uk. We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns before you approach the ICO, so please consider contacting us first.

If you wish to exercise any of these rights, you may contact us via email at info@danielapescuma.com with your request. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests (for example, by asking you to provide information to confirm your identity). We will respond to all legitimate requests as soon as possible, and at least within the timeframes required by law (generally within one month). No fee is typically required to exercise your rights, but note that we are allowed to charge a reasonable fee or refuse to act on requests that are unfounded or excessive (for instance, repetitive requests).

International Data Transfers

We are based in the United Kingdom, but we utilize services and technology providers that may be located in other countries. As a result, your personal information may be transferred to, stored, or processed in a country outside of the UK (and potentially outside the European Economic Area “EEA”). In particular, some of our third-party service providers are in the United States and other jurisdictions. For example, if you interact with our Etsy shop, your data will be transferred to the country where Etsy’s servers are located; if you sign up for our newsletter or use our Sites, information might be processed by U.S.-based companies like Google or Mailchimp. We will always endeavor to limit such transfers and protect your data during them.

Whenever we transfer personal data out of the UK/EEA, we take steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information. These safeguards may include: ensuring the destination country has an adequacy decision from the UK or EU (meaning its data protection laws are deemed strong), or using standard contractual data protection clauses approved by regulators, or relying on binding corporate rules or other applicable legal mechanisms. For example, data stored with our U.S. service providers is often protected by Standard Contractual Clauses in our agreements with them, which legally require those providers to protect UK/EU personal data to a high standard.

Please note that by using our Services or interacting with our site, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to servers located in countries outside of your own, including the United States. In particular, if you are a European or UK resident, be aware that your personal information will likely be transferred outside of Europe, including to the U.S., as part of our routine operations. However, we will always handle your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and take all reasonable measures to ensure its confidentiality and security regardless of where it is processed.

Changes to This Policy

We may update or modify this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. For example, we might update the policy to comply with new laws or regulations, or to account for the introduction of a new service or feature on our site. When we make changes, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we may also provide a more prominent notice (such as adding a notice on our homepage or emailing users who have provided an email address for contact). We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.

Your continued use of our Services after we post any modifications to the Privacy Policy will constitute your acknowledgment of the changes and your agreement to abide by the updated policy. If you do not agree with any changes to the Privacy Policy, you should stop using our Sites and Services and can request that we remove your personal information from our records, if applicable.

Our Cookie Policy

Comment Policy

We aim to foster a kind, helpful, and inclusive community on our blog and social media channels. By participating in the comment sections on our Sites, you agree to be respectful towards us and other readers. We welcome questions, constructive feedback, and differing opinions, as long as they are expressed courteously. That said, there are certain types of content we will not tolerate in comments:

  • Hate Speech or Harassment: Any form of hate speech, bigotry, or targeted harassment (including racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or ableist remarks) is strictly prohibited.
  • Racism or Discrimination: Comments that include racial slurs or that discriminate against any individual or group based on attributes such as race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc., will be removed.
  • Obscenities or Profanity: While we understand casual language, excessive profanity or crude/vulgar comments that contribute nothing to the discussion may be edited or deleted.
  • Threats or Personal Attacks: Any comment that contains threats of violence or encourages others to harm someone (whether another commenter, us, or any third party) will be removed and may be reported to the authorities if deemed serious. We also do not allow personal insults or attacks on anyone’s character.
  • Illegal Content: Do not post anything that is unlawful, encourages unlawful activities, or violates any intellectual property rights (e.g., no posting of someone else’s copyrighted text or images without permission). This includes posting others’ private information without consent (doxxing).

Comments that appear to be spam or purely self-promotional in nature will likely be caught by our filters or removed by our team. It’s fine to include a link to your own blog or a relevant resource if it adds to the conversation, but the comment should be relevant to the post and not just an advertisement. Repeated unsolicited linking or promotional messaging will be treated as spam.

We reserve the right to edit or delete any comments that violate these guidelines or for any other reason we deem appropriate. This is our space, and we want it to remain welcoming and valuable for all readers. Our moderation decisions are final. If you find that your comment isn’t appearing, it may have been held for moderation or filtered by our system—please be patient, as we periodically review pending comments.

By commenting on our site, you retain ownership of your comments; however, you grant us the right to display and share those comments on our website. We are not responsible for the content of comments posted by users and any opinions expressed in comments are those of the individual commenter.

Above all, be kind and remember that behind every comment is a real person. We’re all here to learn, share, and grow together. Thank you for contributing to a positive community experience!

Affiliate Disclaimer

Transparency about how we earn money and endorse products is important to us. This blog is a source of income, and it may occasionally include endorsements or testimonials. We want you to know that we only promote products and services we truly believe in and that our opinions are always our own. In light of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines on disclosures for endorsements, please note the following:

  • Paid or Sponsored Content: Some content on our Sites may be used to promote products, services, or other businesses from which we receive compensation (whether monetary payment or free products). In other words, if a post or page is sponsored by a company or contains affiliate links, it’s because that content helps support our blog as an income source.
  • Honest Endorsements: We only promote or endorse products/services that we have personally used, tested, or genuinely trust and believe will be beneficial to our readers. Our opinions are not for sale – if we recommend something, it’s because we truly like it.
  • Free Review Items: Sometimes companies may provide us with products or services for free for review purposes. We make it clear that accepting a free product does not guarantee a favorable review. Our reviews and endorsements remain unbiased and reflect our honest experience.
  • Genuine Opinions: You can trust that we will always give our sincere and genuine opinion about a product or service, whether or not we are partnering with the provider or receiving any form of payment. If something doesn’t meet our standards, we will say so (or we won’t feature it at all).
  • Integrity Over Profit: Our top priority is accuracy and fairness to our readers. We value your trust, and we will never compromise the truth or our integrity just to make money. We turn down opportunities that don’t align with our values or that we feel wouldn’t be useful to you, our readers.
  • Affiliate Link Disclosure: Posts on this site may contain affiliate links. This means if you click on an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. (You’ll pay the same price for the product whether you use our link or not.) We strive to clearly indicate affiliate links or sponsored content, but please assume that any product or service link could be an affiliate link, even if not explicitly labeled as such in every instance.

In plain terms, affiliate links are a way for us to earn a bit of income to support the content we create. When you click on such a link and buy something, the retailer pays us a commission as a reward for referring a customer. This commission comes at no extra charge to you. Any commissions we earn through affiliate links help us maintain the website and continue producing helpful content.

We are not responsible for the quality, accuracy, timeliness, or any other aspect of products and services provided by third-party merchants. Any product claim, statistic, quote, or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer, provider, or party in question. If we link to a product sold by another company, please be aware that the third-party site will have its own privacy and data collection practices which may differ from ours. Once you leave our site (for example, by clicking an external affiliate link and going to the merchant’s site), this Privacy Policy no longer applies, and any information you provide on the third-party site will be governed by that site’s policies.

If you make a purchase through a link on our site that leads to another merchant, the information collected during your visit to that merchant (such as your name, contact info, and payment details you provide at checkout) will be collected by the merchant, and potentially shared with us (for example, the merchant might notify us of your purchase so we can calculate our commission). We do not receive your credit card number or sensitive payment information from affiliate merchants – typically, we just receive summary information like what was purchased and when. Nonetheless, we encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit via our links.

Amazon Affiliate Program: We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites like ours to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and its affiliated sites. In simpler terms, this means that many product links to Amazon on our website are affiliate links, and if you happen to buy something on Amazon after clicking one of our links, we may receive a small commission from Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. This comes at no extra cost to you. Amazon and its logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.

We believe in transparency, so if you ever have any questions about whether a particular post or link is sponsored or affiliated, please do not hesitate to ask us. We’re more than happy to clarify. We appreciate your support whether you use our affiliate links or not – trust and honesty with our audience is of paramount importance to us.

Advertising

This site may engage with third-party advertising companies to display ads when you visit. Third-party advertising networks (for example, Google AdSense or media ad networks) might be used to serve advertisements on our Site. These companies may use cookies and similar technologies to collect aggregated information about your visits to this Site and other websites (such as web pages you visit and your general location information) in order to provide advertisements about goods and services likely to be of interest to you. Importantly, any data collected for ad targeting is typically non-personally identifiable information – it does not include your name, address, email address, or telephone number, but rather device and browsing information.

For example, we may display personalized ads through Google and its partners based on your prior visits to our site or others. These ad networks use the information from cookies to show you products relevant to things you’ve shown interest in. This practice, commonly known as interest-based or personalized advertising, is widely used on the internet.

Your choices: If you prefer to not have this information used for the purpose of serving you interest-based ads, you can usually opt-out. One way to opt out of many third-party ad networks is through the Network Advertising Initiative(NAI) opt-out page, which is located at http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp. This resource allows you to opt out of targeted advertising from various companies in one place. Additionally, for Google specifically, you can adjust your ad settings by visiting your Google Account’s ad settings page or installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on as mentioned earlier.

Please note that opting out of personalized ads does not mean you will no longer see ads on our site; rather, it means the ads you do see will not be tailored to your interests based on cookies on that browser. Also, if you delete cookies or use a different browser/device, you may need to renew your opt-out choices.

We are committed to complying with applicable advertising and cookie regulations. On your first visit to our site, you will have seen a notice about our use of cookies and similar technologies. By continuing to use our site, you consented to the use of such cookies for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy (unless you later disable them via your browser settings or the mechanisms described above). For more information on how we use cookies, you can review our Cookies Policy (if available) or contact us with any questions.
